A Couple, a Dream,

Tanda Pizza began when an Italian chef with 30 years of experience met his Indonesian wife. After years of running restaurants in Singapore—where he introduced authentic Neapolitan pizza to Asia—they searched for a quieter life. His wife found this spot: rice paddies, mountain views, no traffic. He thought she was crazy. Now he calls it the best location in Lovina.
Today, she welcomes you at the door while he works the wood-fired oven. It's a family restaurant in the truest sense—no corporate menu, no shortcuts, just two people who care deeply about what ends up on your plate.
Our Philosophy
No Shortcuts, Just Passion
In a world of fast food and shortcuts, we choose the slow path. Our pizza dough ferments for 48 hours, developing the complex flavors and perfect texture that can't be rushed. Our pastas are made fresh daily, by hand, just as they have been in Italian kitchens for centuries.
We import what must be imported—24-month aged Parmigiano, San Marzano tomatoes from the July harvest, cured meats from Italian masters. And we source locally what can be local—our burrata comes fresh from Bali, and even French guests call it "wonderful."
Italian food is easy—if the ingredients are perfect. That's the secret. No fancy techniques, no molecular gastronomy. Just honest ingredients treated with respect.
The Setting
Why We're Not on the Beach
While others compete for beachfront, we chose something different. After a day watching waves, our guests find something unexpected: the emerald calm of Bali's rice terraces, the distant mountains, and the space to actually taste their food.
No traffic noise. No hawkers. Just the rustle of rice stalks and the occasional call of a bird. This is the pace busy people need—the kind of quiet that lets conversations deepen and meals slow down.
When the sun sets, the paddies glow golden, and for a moment everything stops. That's when you understand why we chose this spot.
